By car or private vehicle, your journey begins in Delhi in the morning. The journey to Shimla is very beautiful, and it takes about 8 hours. There are a few rest stops along the way where you can enjoy the scenery. When you reach Shimla in the afternoon, you will check into your hotel, clean up and then set out for sightseeing.
In the evening, take a stroll along Mall Road; it is one of the most famous places in Shimla. The area is great to wander around as it is lined with shops, cafes and local vendors. It also offers beautiful views of the nearby hills and valleys. Don't forget to visit The Ridge, which is in the heart of Shimla and is known for its open-air and spectacular mountain views. You can have a coffee and watch the hills change colours.
You will have breakfast at your hotel and then leave for Kufri, a beautiful hill town not far from Shimla. It has lush forests, green valleys and an exciting atmosphere, with horse riding, nature walks and a small amusement park for children. You can ski or snowboard on the hills of Kufri in winter.
After visiting Kufri, head back to Shimla and visit Jakhu Temple, a holy place dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The temple is situated on a hilltop and offers amazing views of the city and the surrounding mountains. Beware of the monkeys playing near the temple! Later, visit Christ Church, which is one of the most famous landmarks in Shimla and is known for its neo-Gothic architectural style. When you pass by this church at night, it will remind you of the British era.
In the evening, go shopping at Lakkar Bazaar. Here you can find unique wooden gifts, woollen shawls and handmade items. Try some of the snacks made here and enjoy the bustling atmosphere of the market.
On the last day of your trip, relax with breakfast before leaving the hotel. If you have time before heading back, you might want to check out the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, which is housed in the old Viceregal Lodge. The building is known for its beautiful grounds and impressive architecture. It used to be the summer home of the British Viceroy.
