Delhi Taj Mahal Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Delhi

On the first day, let’s meet in Delhi, India. Delhi is a city that has a historical background as well as a modern background. After checking in at the respective hotel, you may want to take some time to relax and freshen up. In the afternoon, you will meet your tour guide and explore the city.

First on the agenda will be the Red Fort, one of the most beautiful examples of Mughal architecture. Go ahead and enjoy the beautiful gardens, beautiful structures, and historical events. Next, the tour takes you to the Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India. Appreciate its grandeur and see the temple and the busy streets below.

In the evening, you drive towards the India Gate, an arch built in honour of the Indian soldiers who lost their lives during the war. The location near the India Gate is a busy area with a lot of activities as people are found selling food items and other goods. Take a pleasant walk and enjoy the peace. Afterwards, head back to the hotel for dinner before relaxing for the day.

Day 2: Delhi to Agra

The next day, after an early breakfast, travel to Agra. The bus ride will take about 3 to 4 hours. While on the bus, enjoy the picturesque countryside. When you reach Agra, the first thing you will see is the famous Taj Mahal.

The Taj Mahal is a magnificent mausoleum built by an emperor in memory of his beloved wife. Everyone loves Mumtaz Mahal. Don't rush to leave this place, as every minute spent here is worthwhile, and the views here are truly stunning. Powerful and elaborate, the white marble structure will take your breath away.

After visiting the Taj Mahal, have lunch at an Indian restaurant. Taste some traditional Mughlai cuisine, for which the region is famous. After having lunch, head to the Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This magnificent structure of red sandstone offers stunning views of the Taj Mahal from certain angles of the fort.

In the evening, there are leisure moments when you may want to take a short walk in the local markets. Agra's leather goods and especially marble inlay work are just some of the many beautiful handicrafts made in the city. Buy some gifts as well. Head back to your hotel in Agra for dinner and a good sleep.

Day 3: Delhi Sightseeing and Departure

On the last day, breakfast will be served before departing for Delhi. The first stop is at the Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in the world. And, wander around the complex which has amazing ruins and lovely sculptures.

Next, visit Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a building that inspired the Taj Mahal. The distinctive design and the view of the lush garden surrounding it make it a perfect photography spot. After these sights, have lunch of local cuisine at one of the restaurants.

After lunch, visit the Lotus Temple whose architecture is based on a flower. It is a Baha'i House of Worship and one does not need to be a believer to enter. Before ending your tour, please take some time to enjoy the silence and compose your thoughts.

Also ending the tour, your guide will assist you with your departure procedures. After that, you may be directed to the airport or railway station depending on your travel services.
