Start your road trip by leaving Delhi in the morning. It takes about five hours to reach Chandigarh, which is about 250 kilometres away. You will get to see beautiful views of farms and small towns, which reflect the beauty of rural Punjab and Haryana.
As soon as you reach the city, you will check in to a hotel and get cleaned up. Features of Chandigarh include its systematic road network, parks, and buildings designed by Le Corbusier. After resting at the hotel, you will visit the famous Rock Garden. This ornamental garden is constructed from waste materials found in cities and industries, thus celebrating both art and environmentalism.
After this, you will also be taken to Sukhna Lake. This artificial lake has good sightseeing as well as boat rides and you will also take a short boat ride. The last activity before dinner is to walk around the Rose Garden, which is Asia's largest rose garden with more than 1600 species of flowers.
After a fun-filled day, you will head back to your hotel to relax and sleep.
After having breakfast, get in your vehicle and get ready to drive to Amritsar. It will take around four hours and will be a distance of about 230 kilometres. The drive is quite scenic and you will appreciate the very expansive agricultural land of Punjab.
After reaching Amritsar, check in to the hotel and take some rest. The Golden Temple should be your first stop as it is one of the most sacred places in all of India. Take a stroll around the holy stepwell, admire the Golden Building and listen to the soothing prayers emanating from the temple. You can also enjoy the dining experience, otherwise known as the ‘langar’ practice that represents the spirit of unity and sharing.
In the afternoon, visit the Jallianwala Bagh Memorial, which depicts the event of the 1919 massacre. Explore the history of the freedom struggle through its exhibits at the memorial.
During the later hours, the Wagah Border will be the next destination to catch a glimpse of the spectacular Beating Retreat ceremony. It is a high-voltage musical battle of patriotism between Indian and Pakistani soldiers, and it is a memory that cannot be erased.
The location will be Amritsar and the overnight stay will be at the hotel.
After a hearty breakfast, get ready for your road trip to Kurukshetra, a distance of about 300 kilometres, which can take about five to six hours by road. Kurukshetra in Haryana is one of the places that is much enjoyed in Hindu mythology. It serves as the backdrop of the Mahabharata where Lord Krishna taught the verses of the Gita to Arjuna.
The Brahma Sarovar, a large pool of holy water created by Lord Brahma, is the first pilgrimage site to visit upon reaching Kurukshetra. It is believed that a person who takes a bath in this pool is freed from all sins and becomes closer to the Lord.
Later, visit the Krishna Museum, which has several exhibitions related to the life of Lord Krishna and his teachings. Moreover, the museum presents an attractive display of antiques, paintings, and images depicting events from Krishna’s life.
In the evening, spend a little time visiting Jyotisar, the place where Lord Krishna preached the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. The atmosphere is very peaceful and ideal for prayer and contemplation.
Hindu temples are scattered across the landscape of the former national capital, so after several hours of sightseeing, you can relax at your hotel in Kurukshetra.
On the last day, have your breakfast and then start your journey to Delhi. The drive takes about three hours to cover a distance of about 150 km. If time permits, you can visit the tomb of Sheikh Chilli which is an important landmark in Kurukshetra that reflects the finest Mughal design.
